Vinyasa Power Yoga


The word ‘vinyasa’ means breath-synchronized movement. This form of yoga covers a wide range of yoga style. The technique involves inhaling, when you move to one pose and exhaling, when moving to the next one and is known as vinyasa flow or just flow because the movement forms like a smooth dance sequence.


To be more specific, vinyasa is the movement which links all the yoga asanas practiced in power yoga which is synchronized by breathing. A cat-cow scratch and the sun salutation are the examples of vinyasa power yoga that involves a series of inhalation and exhalation.


Ashtanga vinyasa yoga is one of the most complete systems of yoga which emphasizes on the principle of adaptation. Other popular types of yoga such as:


1) power yoga, a vigorous fitness based approach to the vinyasa style,

2) ashtanga yoga that refers to the eight limb yoga,

3) bikram yoga which is commonly referred to as the hot yoga,

4) jivamukti yoga which means liberation while living,

5) Kundalini yoga which means the untapped energy (prana) at the base of the spine that can be drawn up by awakening the seven chakras of the body,

6) Anusara yoga that emphasizes on inculcating the lessons learnt in the yoga classes to daily life


- make use of this system of yoga.


This system demands a continuous effort of concentration to maintain the posture from one movement to the other, challenging the mental and physical being of the practitioner. She can customize the vinyasa style to suit his or her practices and make each and every part of the style his/her own. The principle of this yoga style is to experience a change by defying yourself.


The fundamental principle that distinguishes this form of yoga from others is that you work at your own point of fitness and ability, leading to an overall sense of being tougher and stress-free.


The main aim is to get hold of the fluctuations of the mind through rigorous body movements and breaths achieve stillness. And to reach such a stage, it requires dedication and tenacity, which are rare to find. Thus, vinyasa by uniting Hatha and Raja yoga makes it simple for anyone to realize spiritual progress.
