Almost 60 sleep disorders exist among humans, but insomnia is the most common among them. For insomnia, you can go through the articles- facts about insomnia and natural remedies for insomnia. Because here, we are going to talk about the other main sleep problems that are disturbing most of us.

List of sleep disorders :

1. Sleep Apnea

2. Bruxism

3. Excessive sleepiness

4. Restless legs

Here are the details of all these disorders :

Sleep Apnea

recurrent episodes of breathing stoppage during sleep

Patients of sleep apnea usually snore and stop breathing for short periods, and emerge from sleep with a jerk or gasp. This disorder occurs when an upper airway gets blocked by the relaxation of tissues of the soft palate or enlarged adenoids or nasal polyps.

If you notice these symptoms in you or in your near ones, then immediately see a doctor. You can lose weight, sleep on your stomach or side, stay away from alcohol before bedtime and use nasal decongestants, but all this should be done under proper guidance of a physician.

Bruxism

grinding or clenching of teeth during sleep

Usually such a sleep disorder occurs due to stress. For this, you will have to visit your dentist, only he can tell you whether your bite needs adjustment and will provide you with a plastic guard to prevent further damage. Try to sort out the rootcause of your tension. For this, learn some good relaxation skills.

Excessive sleepiness

To avoid this, get abundant sleep at night, take a daytime nap and try to eat light or vegetarian meals, especially when you are going for some special activity or maybe sex with your partner. Go for the drinks rich in caffeine like coffee, tea and colas to keep you awake for long. If still the problem persists, then go and visit your doctor.

Restless legs

It is the irresistible urge or desire to keep on moving your legs. It normally occurs shortly after you go to bed or throughout the night, not letting you to get to sleep or stay asleep. So, get up from your bed and walk a bit around to remove your stress. Try to relax your muscles and take a warm bath before going to bed. If the condition gets severe, then see your physician.

Apart from all these self-care tips, you also need to change certain habits of yours that are responsible for more than half of your problems. And lead a new refreshing life free from all worries and restlessness!
