Natural Sunburn Remedies - Homemade Sunburn Lotions

Natural sunburn remedies is the best option for the treatment of sunburn, if the sun block lotions have failed to protect your skin. Vitamin D is essential for our skin but the radiation of the sun comprises of UV rays and other rays that could be harmful for the skin. Though the burn may be temporary but the damages due to the burns risk the formation of skin cancer in the long run. There are a number of home remedies that are helpful in relieving and reducing the burns and the pains which is much better than the expensive products that promises immediate relief.

Following are some of the natural remedies that effectively helps in the prevention and protection of the skin:

1) Mix 300 ml of non-fat dry milk, 2 tablespoons salt and 750 ml water. Take a clean cloth, soak it in the mixture and apply it to the inflamed area for about 20 minutes.

2) Applying mayonnaise, peanut oil, undiluted apple cider vinegar, plain yoghurt, apples, potatoes, used tea bags etc are also helpful.

You can even make your own homemade sunburn lotion and creams. The best thing about these homemade products is that it is all natural, inexpensive and effective. Following are some of the methods to prepare your own all natural sunburn remedies.

Cucumber Sunburn Lotion

1 cucumber
1/4 cup glycerin
1/4/ cup rose-water

Chop the cucumber and squeeze out the cucumber juice with a lemon-squeezer and mix it with Glycerin and Rose-water.

Sunburn Lotion

240 ml non-medicated lotion
5 drops clove oil
5 drops peppermint oil
2-4 teaspoons powdered comfrey root
2-4 tablespoons aloe vera gel

Mix all the ingredients together in a bowl and chill it if desired. If you want you can increase the amount of comfrey roots or aloe vera gel but do not increase the amounts of clove or peppermints as it could cause skin irritation.
 
Sunburn Soothing Bath

2-4 cups oatmeal
1/2 to 1 cup baking soda
1-2 cups powdered chamomile flowers
1 cup buttermilk (optional)

You can either add all these ingredients to the bath water or wrap it in a cheese cloth to add aroma.

Sunburn Mist

60 ml of distilled water
9 drops of lavender
2 drops of peppermint
1 drop of spearmint

Mix all of them together and mist it over the burnt skin.

If you do not want to touch the area then you can use a sprayer to spray it on the area. Try some other natural remedies and compare the results with the ones that you get after using and over the counter products. You will definitely see a difference and decide on your own whether it is best to go all natural or stick to the over the counters products.
