Home Remedies for a Toothache

Toothache is the most irritating as well as common ailment of our times. One feels like having a hammer and getting this aching tooth removed at any cost. Having this terribly annoying pain in the teeth makes it impossible to have a sound sleep. I can understand how hellish one feels in such a condition as I also used to be a victim of this mind blasting pain. But now, after trying many of the pain relief techniques, I just don’t feel any need to panic. So, all you people with aching teeth and unable to say ‘cheese’, here are some of the natural ways to beat toothache that can be really effective:

(1.) Dissolve about three to four teaspoons of salt in a glass of warm water. And swish with this salt dissolved warm water for a few minutes. If the pain persists, then do repeat the rinsing process one more time. It is the safest as well as easiest home remedy.

(2.) The use of clove oil is most effective in the pain relief. Just apply a few drops of clove oil soaked in a piece of cotton on the aching tooth as the oil would have a numbing effect on the tooth. One can also chew a piece of clove as it is also very useful.

(3.) Put two tablespoons of baking soda into water and after rinsing, spit it out. Repeat the process again and again. Gradually, the pain would be gone.

(4.) Cut onion into small pieces and place it on the aching tooth. It acts as a bactericidal and prevents tooth decay. Being an antibiotic, the onion is quite effective in getting rid of the toothache. Chewing onion for a few minutes and then spitting out the pieces can also be beneficial.

(5.) Chewing Garlic is also quite helpful in getting the relief as it contains allicin, which plays a vital role in stopping the growth of the bacteria that causes toothache. However, do keep in mind the taste of garlic and onion is not cherished by many people.

(6.) Chewing the leaves of the Guava tree or having Babul tree’s bark are also two of the natural ways for relieving oneself from tooth ache. They strengthen the loose tooth and are quite useful in pain relief.

(7.) Having painkillers on your own is strictly not recommended and if still you want to chew something then you can have a piece of ginger, clove, garlic or a raw onion.

The above seven home remedies have played a significant role in getting rid of my toothache. And I hope they would also work for me. The most important point to be noted is that our food habits should be kept in check and should include all the ingredients that stops tooth decay.

However, don’t be shy in consulting a dentist if the teeth don’t let you say ‘cheese’. Feel free to suggest some more efficient home remedies.
