Dental Implants - Cost of Dental Implants

Dental implants can play a significant part in bringing back that ever-mesmerizing smile. But how can one bring back that ever-dazzling smile? What exactly are these dental implants? In a more complex and scientific language, we can say that these are ‘small dental appliances that are inserted into the upper and lower jaws to help restore a mouth that has little or no non-restorable teeth.’ In simple words, these are sort of permanent as well as natural looking replacements for the loss of natural teeth.

An implant is permanently attached to the jawbone which replaces the missing tooth or teeth. Now the next question that comes into the mind is ‘Who needs dental implants?’ Who is eligible for getting them? Well! There are many doubts in the minds of the people about the criteria for getting them done. If you are getting toothless or feel a sense of inferiority complex while smiling, then this is the best option for you.

Let me narrate an instance about my family;

In my family, I have two toothless angels, my grandmother and my grandfather. My Grand Ma used to have a haunting smile (Sorry grand ma, but grand pa often says so), until she got those remarkable dental implants. After seeing her superb teeth, I guess in some sort of complex, my grand pa also got those implants for himself. This cute little story about my grandfather and grandmother doesn’t imply that dental implants are exclusively for people above 70.

On the contrary, all those people who have lost a tooth or teeth due to some oral disease, an accident or injury, a failed root canal or any other reason, are eligible for dental implants; only the point to be noted is that their gums should be healthy, and jaw bone should be strong enough to hold on the implant. However, the success rate of this treatment in smokers is quite low. Hence, the age doesn’t matter, what matters is the perfect oral health of the person opting for it.

The cost of a single tooth implant with crown in U.S and U.K is about $2500. The complete mouth reconstruction cost differs for every complicated case and can range up to $50000. The Dental implants are done by an oral surgeon also known as the periodontists and needs a lot of efficient planning for getting desired results.

For any further query, do consult your dentist and an able periodontist.
