Constipation during pregnancy is the most common among all other pregnancy problems. Though, it may worsen during pregnancy due to specific reasons. The main reason is the slowing down of the bowel activity due to the increased pressure on the bowels. And this pressure increases with the growing baby inside the uterus.
To combat this irritating pregnancy problem, you can practice the following self-care tips:
1. drink plenty of liquids- and that should be at least 8-10 glasses a day
2. exercise moderately every day without any break
3. eat several meals instead of 2-3 meals a day, and your meals should include fresh fruits, vegetables and whole grains
4. try one more thing- take a bulk-former that contains psyllium (isabgol) and this is easily available at all grocery stores. Do not go for any laxative without your doctor's advice.
All these above measures will help you to overcome this constipation easily making your pregnancy a comfortable experience. If these do not bring much relief, then do not hesitate to tell your doctor about it. If neglected, it may worsen and take the shape of hemorrhoids.
