Before we move further, it would be better for you to read the introductory pregnancy myths, without which you would not be able to enjoy this article. And if you have, then please proceed...
4. Do not raise your arms above your head while doing any household chores, as your baby will get the cord wrapped around its neck- Most of the fetuses are found to have umbilical cord wrapped around the neck, though it is unfortunate, but the mother is not responsible for it. You cannot do anything to prevent it. It is according to the movements of your baby inside.
5. Avoid sex during pregnancy as this may cause danger to your baby's life- Why to get over-when you know that your baby is already protected inside the fetus. Unless you have faced some trouble due to untimely bleeding or pre-labor, you can indulge in sex with your partner.
6. If you suffer through a lot of heartburn during pregnancy, then your baby is likely to have a lot of hair- Now this is really absurd! What has your baby's hair to do with your heartburn. The reason behind your heartburn is the growing size of your baby and the fetus. Your stomach is pushed higher and and whatever you eat, the acid moves backwards from the stomach to your lower esophagus irritating it and causing heartburn.
7. Stay away from cats throughout your pregnancy- Its a myth that you cannot touch your cat during your pregnancy. The only thing is that you should not come into a direct contact with the litter of the cat as it has a parasite called toxoplasmosis. It is a parasite that can cause serious infections in humans and deformities in the developing baby.
8. Avoid having X-rays, micro-cooking and stay away from computer terminals- Computer terminals are completely safe, yes, microwave should be avoided if you use it in excess. And also, unnecessary radiations should be avoided if possible, but its not that you fear going near them.
9. Taking a bath leads to an unhealthy pregnancy- Its not that you should not bathe during pregnancy, you should only avoid bathing with hot water. Yes, in some cases like if your water has broken or if you face bleeding unexpectedly.
10. Bumping car rides or lifting groceries can trigger labor- Minor "on-road" bumping car rides will have no effect on your baby at all, as your baby is completely protected by sufficient cushioning of the uterus and surrounding fluid. What you have to be careful from is big accidents or a fall.
